If the ice cream, impromptu parties, cookouts, s’mores, frosty, creamy libations, vacations, lack of consistent schedules, and “too hot to move” weather makes you give up on your goals until fall, this blog is for you!
Here are easy ways to make summer a great time of year for losing!
- Keep your head in the sun! I’m not talking about the physical sun; I’m talking about the “bright side of things.” Spend your time thinking about how hard it is to lose weight in the summer, and yeah, you’re right, it will be hard. On the other hand if you start looking and counting all the ways warmer weather, longer daylight hours, and fresh-off-the-vine produce supports enhanced weight loss progress, you will be winning at losing!
- Enjoy lots of that fresh-out-of-the-garden/off-the-vine/picked-from-the-tree produce. Good tasting fruits and vegetables is the best way to stay full on fewer calories, while giving your body important vitamins, minerals and fiber (antioxidants that protect your body from cell damage.) Besides the obvious low calorie and nutrient dense properties of fruit and vegetables, they can be eaten in ways that are so delicious, that you actually prefer them for their flavor over some of your high fat and added sugar treats! - Have fun playing hard. Get your sun hat and sunglasses, slap on a generous layer of sunscreen and head outside to play. What do you like to do? Swim, beach volleyball, waterski, horseback ride, rollerblade? It doesn’t matter do everything you love and have fun doing it. Don’t feel guilty that you’re playing. You’re strengthening your heart while reducing your risk of cancer and type 2 diabetes!
- Repeat 1, 2, and 3 daily!
