Why I work for Weight Watchers

My job at Weight Watchers started for the same reason I sold encyclopedias and cosmetics.

I wanted a set for my girls and the best way to get one was to earn them by selling them. I had a successful World Book Encyclopedia career.

Yes! I went door-to-door, making cold calls selling encyclopedias. If I saw signs of children living in a home, I rang the bell.  I love World Book. The articles are well-written. The photography was beautiful. i was excited to introduce families to the best encyclopedia they could buy.

World Book was my "go to" reference all through school. My children started using World Book before they could read. Now it's time for me to get sets for my grandchildren.

The content was geared to the age and reading comprehension of the people most likely to read an article. It was easy for me to sell World Book because I loved and used it myself.

I had a successful career with Estee Lauder cosmetics.

I was a promotional assistant. I worked part-time at different stores. I was booked as a guest makeup artist for special promotions.

It was easy for me to link and build sales. A customer wanted mascara. I’d demonstrate great the Lauder skin care line on her and show her how Lauder foundation, lipstick, and blush, plus the mascara, would quickly give her a polished look right for office or evening.

I sold a lot of Lauder cosmetics because I loved them.

I was introduced to Estee Lauder cosmetics by a friend 30 years ago. I've been a devoted fan ever since!

I loved the packaging, the quality, how well they worked, how true the colors stayed and how long they lasted. There were cheaper cosmetics available, but in my opinion, it made sense to pay more for Lauder. Women got excellent value for their money.

I joined Weight Watchers to lose weight and do it in a way that made me a good role model for my daughters.
I could drop this weight by skipping meals but that's not what I wanted to teach my girls about healthy eating.

I knew how to lose weight in unhealthy ways but when I had a 5-year-old watching and questioning my diet methods, it was time to do something different.

I loved the program. I loved how it put me back onto a healthier way of eating. I loved that I was cooking one meal for the whole family. We all ate the same meals, snacks and desserts and I lost weight.

I loved how I lost weight following a program that fit my lifestyle. I could dine out, and eat fast food with the kids. I just needed to be accountable by counting and tracking.

When I reached my goal, I knew that I was going to continue to live the Weight Watchers program with adjustments to move from weight loss to weight maintenance. I was excited about what I learned and eager to share it with anybody who seemed a little bit interested.

I accepted the offer to become a Weight Watchers leader in 1991. I loved my job helping people lose weight with a scientifically sound program. I was energized leading focused discussions that allowed members to inspire and support each other.

In 1993 when the position of regional manager became available I applied for it and was promoted. As a regional manager I recruited and trained Weight Watchers service providers. I staffed meetings and visited meetings to observe and coach. I had a very clear vision of how I wanted every meeting in my region to deliver the program and service to Weight Watchers members.

In 1995 Weight Watchers of Maine, an independent franchise of Weight Watchers International, Inc., needed a general manager. I applied and was rewarded with the promotion August 15, 1995. I’ve held this position ever since and loved every minute of it.

I never expected my job at Weight Watchers would make me a regular guest on local TV news programs!

I believe in the program and the service delivery. I feel strongly that what happens in meetings is what lies behind the success so many Weight Watchers members achieve and sustain.

Weight Watchers meetings combine a sound scientific program with a network of support and motivation.

I want every person who joins Weight Watchers in Maine to benefit from the best that Weight Watchers has to offer. I want members to have the same positive, life-changing experience I had.

I work for Weight Watchers because I don’t think there is a better way to lose weight and keep it off.

If I thought there were a better weight management solution than Weight Watchers, I’d be working there.
