Yes, I truly believe that there is one food better than all the rest for weight loss and weight maintenance! No successful dieter will want to be without it. I keep a supply in my fridge at all times. They’re the secret weapon to my astonishing weight loss and my source of power to keep off those pounds I lost more than 20 years ago.
This food is so powerful that I can have cookies and chips in my house, but I prefer the #1 diet food! The opened bags of processed snacks and goodies go stale. I throw them out, but I never open a bag of the absolute, best diet food that doesn’t get consumed fully. They go fast, too fast. I go to the fridge to help myself and the bag is empty.
The absolute best diet food is baby carrots! Here is what makes them the best choice for mindless snacking which is a common affliction among most of us who have trouble keeping our weight under control.
- The come in bags and are ready to eat – just like potato chips!
- Unlike potato chips they are not processed with added fat, salt, and sugar
- They are crunchy and sweet
- They are low in calories
- Good source of vitamin A
- Good source of fiber
- Good source of beta carotene
- Portable – easy to take with you, not messy and don’t spoil without refrigeration for up to 8 hours
- They require a lot of chewing so they provide chewing satisfaction
- They are self-limiting. Eat too many and you’ll get a tummy ache.
Carrot munching is an easy, healthy habit to pass onto other members of your household. If you have children in your house don’t be surprised when they become carrot-lovers too. My kids grew up with carrots and cookies in the house. They knew they could eat as many as they wanted anytime they wanted. Cookies were for school desserts, not for snacks, and thanks to carrots, it was easy for them to adhere to that policy.
Yes, it’s my personal opinion that baby carrots are the #1, absolute best diet food. Anytime you see a food – any food- touted as the best diet food on the planet, it is nothing but the opinion of the author. You’re free to find your own #1 diet food, but if you’re having trouble with mindless eating or constant snacking, do yourself a favor and buy a big bag or carrots!
Tip for buying baby carrots:
If the carrots appear very wet in the bag they are often slimy and don’t taste right. To get a good bag, pick it up and tilt one corner lower than the other three. If water pools up more than a scant amount in the lowered corner, don’t buy the bag.
If some carrots appear whitish, don’t reject them. The whitish carrots are far preferable to the bright orange (potentially slimy) carrots!
